Buy/Sell Fantasy Stocks: Week 8

fantasy trade candidates

The waiver wire is a blast every week but nothing feels the same as pulling off a trade! Finding the right compensation can be tough and coming to an agreement is even harder. While we would all love to trade for Justin Jefferson, these articles are based around players that with the right compensation, are attainable. Each week throughout the season, I'll give you three buy and sell candidates.

BUY

Austin Ekeler, RB

Ekeler came back from injury to drop two duds and his fantasy owners are fuming. The age and his size also call for injury concerns but his upside is just too great. He has great matchups the rest of the season against weak run defenses outside of one game vs the Lions. He has the quantity of work you look for and is tied to a good offense. I would sell nearly anyone to get Ekeler as he has a real opportunity to finish as the RB 1 from Week 8 until the end of the season.

D’Andre Swift, RB

Swift has yet to see under 18 touches since his Week 2 breakout. He has clearly taken over the RB1 spot in Philly and has finished as a RB 2 or better 5 of the 6 weeks since he took over with a RB25 finish last week putting him right outside a perfect 6 for 6. He has a daunting schedule and with Hurts vulturing TDs, owners could be looking to get out early. I’m willing to take the risk.

Bijan Robinson, RB

Bijan’s flu game was not MJ’s flu game. Take out last week's game and he still has under 11 points in 3 of his last 4 games. That said, his worst finish all season outside of last week was RB 25 on the week with all other games returning RB 2 numbers. It’s a far cry from what Bijan was drafted at but he still has weekly starter value. I would look to see if the Bijan owner in my league is willing to part with him for an equal WR/TE value.

Sell

Jahmyr Gibbs, RB

Gibbs had his breakout game. However, it was with Montgomery out due to injury. I’m looking to sell Gibbs before Monty returns and Gibbs falls back down to being a flex play. There are people out there who think that Gibbs is going to win the starting job during Montgomery's absence. I’m selling Gibbs to them asap.

Jordan Addison, WR

Addison finished as the WR 1 against the vaunted 49ers defense catching 2 TDs on his way to over 30 fantasy points. With the Vikings winning, it only increases the chances of Jefferson returning and playing sooner. Just remember, this is the same player who scored 0 points against the lowly Panthers just 3 weeks ago. I’m selling the boom or bust candidate for a higher floor stable player.

George Pickens, WR

Pickens has had over 100 yards in his last two games. The most remarkable part? His QB threw for 224 and 230 yds in those games. This offense doesn’t have the passing work volume for Pickens to remain a WR 2. The game before his breakout, Pickett threw for 114 yds the entire game resulting in 25 yards and no TDs on 7 targets. This offense has yet to have a 300 yard game and they won’t have many over the course of the season. People want Pickens to be good. I’m selling him right now on a high while his name is as hot as his Twitter highlight catches.
