FITTING THE NFL MOLD

QBs come in all shapes and sizes now with scouts relying more on certain metrics to evaluate the position. They are looking for an AY/A (Adjusted Yards Per Attempts) over 9.0 which takes into account yards, touchdowns, and interceptions giving a better overview than raw YPA. They are also looking for a sack rate under 5% and an INT rate under 2%. Cam's completion percentage, AY/A, and INT rate are all pretty good numbers which points to him having success at the next level. The largest statistical red flag is his higher sack rate percentage, but his sack totals did drop noticeably after he transferred to Miami.

COLLEGE PRODUCTION

Ward had over a 60% completion rate in all 3 years he competed on the D1 level. He also consistently threw very few interceptions while having high yardage numbers. He saw plenty of action as a dual threat QB amassing 287 carries over his three years. He scaled back his running at Miami but averaged the highest yards per carry of his career. Ward is a big-bodied QB, and he has shown great durability.

WATCHING THE TAPE

Ward can sling the ball anywhere on the field with good accuracy. He is also a talented runner who can make a man miss and get into the endzone. He has a tendency to hold onto the ball for too long and ends up getting swarmed by defenders which is why his sack rate is so high. He makes some questionable throws into danger at times when pressure is applied. He is able to put a high velocity on his passes to get the ball out in quick situations. He doesn't have elite arm strength but has enough for most non-Hail Mary situations.

THE LANDING SPOT

There was no surprise in the 2025 NFL Draft and Ward was drafted 1st overall by the Tennessee Titans. He will come in as the immediate starter and no matter how bad he plays, the Titans aren't going to put Levis back on the field. He will have a bottom tier offensive line in front of him that finished 23rd in pressures allowed. The Titans got the ball out at the 8th fastest rate yet still ranked 26th in pressure rate and 30th in sack rate. The game is going to be incredibly quick for him. He has decent receiver options and capable RBs who are dual threats. The team will want to get the ball out quick again this year so expect plenty of dump offs to help the rookie QB adjust to playing in the NFL.

WHERE TO DRAFT HIM

In redraft leagues, Ward will mostly have value in only 2 QB leagues. He's a low-end QB 2 with a mid-ceiling but he also has a mid-floor that should place him consistently among the top 24 QBs weekly. In Dynasty leagues, he can improve to be a high-end QB 2 or low-end QB 1. Tennessee is in the middle of a rebuild but could make it a quick transition with successful upcoming free agencies and drafts. In 2 QB redraft leagues, he should be a late draft pick, round 13 or later. In Dynasty rookie drafts, he is a top 5 pick.
