FITTING THE NFL MOLD

Ideally, a WRs height will be between 6'1" and 6'3" and he will weigh somewhere between 205 and 215 lbs. Egbuka is on the smaller side for a NFL WR, but he isn't small enough for it to be an issue with his transition to the next level. The three greatest predictors of NFL success for WRs in the combine are the 40 Yard Dash, the 3-Cone Drill, and the Vertical Jump. These test a players speed as well as their ability to high point a ball. Egbuka did not participate in these drills at the Combine but did so at his Pro Day. He ran a 4.45 40 and had a 38-inch vertical. Those are decent numbers for the talented WR and his adjusted Speed Score was in the 97th percentile, putting any concerns about his failure to perform at the combine to rest.

COLLEGE PRODUCTION

Two factors that scouts will raise red flags on are if a receiver has multiple 100+ reception seasons along with injuries and if they play in air-raid or spread heavy systems. Egbuka comes from a pro style system and saw a good amount of work over his 4 years. He has a crazy high career catch rate to pair with a 53.8% contested catch rate, demonstrating he has some of the best hands in the draft.

WATCHING THE TAPE

Egbuka has unreal hands and part of that is due to his elite ability to locate the ball and look it in. Even when defenders are draped all over him, he still finds a way to get to the ball. He has smooth route running making him a nightmare for opposing DBs as he can run the whole route tree. Once he has the ball in his hands, he is able to put on a move and get downfield. He is a real red zone threat due to his hands and ability to find the soft spot, making him a QBs best friend.

THE LANDING SPOT

I would have loved this landing spot a lot more if the Bucs hadn't just resigned Godwin. That said, Evans is 31 and Godwin is older as well so a lighter workload for those two may not be a horrible thing. Egbuka should instantly slot in as the WR 3. He should leapfrog Jalen McMillan during training camp but there is a chance Egbuka could open the season as the WR 4. Baker Mayfield has proven to be a solid QB, so the only concern for Egbuka is going to be his target share.

WHERE TO DRAFT HIM

He should be a late round draft pick in redraft leagues and shouldn't be anything higher than a team's WR 5. He is incredibly talented, but he likely gets drafted higher than he should. In Dynasty rookie drafts, Egbuka should go somewhere in the early to middle first round. I expect a breakout in his 2nd or 3rd season, something similar to JSN.
