English Premier League Best Bets: Matchweek 31 (April 5, 2025 - April 7, 2025):

Welcome to English Premier League Soccer Best Bets, where we break down the latest action in the English Premier League (EPL) and my favorite bets for the upcoming matches, providing quality content that is accessible to new fans and engaging to old and new fans alike.

For an overview of what to expect in this Bettor in Green Article Series, check out my EPL Season Preview and Futures article here.

Recap:

It was refreshing to have EPL back after a long break, with 3 days of midweek matches.

Nottingham Forest continued their magical season, beating Manchester United. Ipswich got a win over Bournemouth, but with Wolves win the day prior means Ipswich are still 9 points away from safety.

In the race for the European places, Chelsea, Man City, Newcastle, and Aston Villa all won, with only 4 points separating those teams. The next 4 teams in the table, Brighton, Fulham, Bournemouth, and Brentford all lost. But with only 8 points separating 4th and 10th, the race is on!

Our Best Bets went 2-1, losing the Bournemouth half of our parlay. Across the Globe was not so hot, going 1-4, thanks to a few scoreless draws in the CONCACAF Champions Cup.

Upcoming Matches:

We have a quick turnaround as we get into matchweek 31 hot off the midweek matches.

The marquee match of the weekend is a Manchester Derby, as Man United host Man City.

The week ends on Monday as Leicester host Newcastle.

Let’s get to the bets:

Best Bets:

Pick #1: Aston Villa Moneyline +100 (April 5, 2025; 12:30 p.m. EST):

For our first bet, I’m backing the high-flying Aston Villa in their hunt for a Champions League place. They play Nottingham Forest, who look more set to keep a Chanpions League place, sitting in 3rd.

Villa been great all season, but have been on fire since the January transfer window, with Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio fitting in quickly.

The biggest concern here is that Villa play a tough team in Nottingham Forest before traveling to Paris to take on PSG in the Champions League.

However, the depth of Villa makes me think they can pull off the win. While Morgan Rogers will likely miss this game and try to be fit for PSG, a big loss, Villa also have not started Ollie Watkins in the last two matches and have Malen as a super sub.

Forest, on the other hand, are coming off two hard-fought matches where they used primarily the same squad. Ola Aina, their right back, also was injured in their last match and is not expected to play.

Pick #2: Liverpool Moneyline -125 (April 6, 2025; 9:00 a.m. EST):

For my second Best Bet, I’m again backing Liverpool to keep winning in the League.

As in discussed in my last article, Liverpool are shoe-ins for the Premier League Title, but the way they’ve slipped in other competitions (eliminated from Champions League, losing EFL Cup Final, crashing out of FA Cup to Plymouth Argyle) have been a bit of a reality check.

Their sole focus now, however, is the run-in for the EPL and getting the trophy.

Fulham, their opponents, are in a tough set of fixtures right now. They beat Spurs 2-0, then lost to Crystal Palace in the FA Cup at home, then lost to Arsenal away. They play Liverpool at home before traveling to Bournemouth then back home to face Chelsea.

Liverpool have yet to lose away from home this season and I expect them to keep their title run going strong, even against a tough opponent in Fulham.

Pick #3: Manchester City Moneyline +115 (April 6, 2025; 11:30 a.m. EST):

For my final Best Bet, I'm taking the away team, Man City, to get the win outright.

While Erling Haaland looks set to be sidelined for several weeks with his ankle injury, Omar Marmoush provides a different option for City and may just help them spark a little more creativity.

Further, Kevin De Bruyne, a longtime servant of Man City and one of the best attacking midfielders in the world in his prime, has announced he’ll be leaving at the end of the season.

All that being said, the real reason I love this bet is the motivations for each club. Manchester City need to make a Champions League spot to ensure their season isn’t a total failure. United, on the other hand, have already failed in the EPL this season, sitting in 13th.

United’s only hope of a positive season is winning the Europa League, where they have a game away at Lyon coming up on Thursday.

Simply put, City will prioritize this win in the league while United will need to prioritize Thursday’s match against Lyon.

Across the Globe:

  • FC Zurich Moneyline -125 (Switzerland; Swiss Super League)

  • LAFC to Win Either Half -105 (USA; MLS)

  • Marseille Moneyline -130 (France; Ligue 1)

  • San Jose Earthquakes Moneyline +120 (USA; MLS)

  • Palmeiras Moneyline -120 (Brazil; Serie A)

Season Record:

Best Bets: 41-48

Across the Globe: 75-70
