Welcome to English Premier League Soccer Best Bets, where we break down the latest action in the English Premier League (EPL) and my favorite bets for the upcoming matches, providing quality content that is accessible to new fans and engaging to old and new fans alike.
For an overview of what to expect in this Bettor in Green Article Series, check out my EPL Season Preview and Futures article here.
Recap:
I’ve been talking quite a bit in this series about the race for the Champions League and other European Cup competition places. This is the closest gap the EPL has seen between 3rd place and 7th place at this stage of the season, with only 4 points separating the places. Previously, the closest gap was 7 points.
With 5 teams vying for 3 remaining Champions League places, this is surely the most exciting race remaining in the EPL.
As far as other storylines, Liverpool could win the title this weekend, so long as they win or draw at home to Tottenham Hotspur, a club who will likely be looking ahead to a Europa League semifinal match next Thursday.
In the relegation battle, Southampton and Leicester have already been relegated, with Ipswich surely to follow this weekend unless they win and West Ham lose.
“Our Best Bets went 1-2, winning only on Man City. Bournemouth seemed perfectly poised to win either half following a Crystal Palace red card late in the first half, but the match ended in a scoreless draw.
Across the Globe we went 2-3, winning Boca Juniors and Real Madrid.
Upcoming Matches:
This weekend we have 2 FA Cup semifinal matches (Crystal Palace v Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest v Manchester City), meaning CP, Villa, City, and Arsenal will be without an EPL match this weekend, with those matches already having been rescheduled and played.
The Nottingham Forest match has yet to be played and has been rescheduled to this Thursday, meaning this matchweek includes 7 matches over the weekend, then the Forest match against Brentford on Thursday
Let’s get to the bets:
Best Bets:
Pick #1: Jørgen Strand Larsen (Wolverhampton Wanderers to Score Anytime +115 (April 26, 2025; 10:00 a.m. EST):
For this first Best Bet, I’m looking at a player prop for Wolves’ in-form striker, Jørgen Strand Larsen.
Strand Larsen is currently under contract with Celta Vigo in Spain, but is being loaned out to Wolves. He’s played 34 matches for Wolves and has netted a goal in 12 of those.
In his last 5 matches, he’s scored in 4 of them, totaling 5 goals in 5 matches. This has helped Wolves win their last 5 matches and pull clear from the relegation zone.
While Wolves may have less to play for, having secured safety from relegation last week, however, they’ll be playing Leicester this weekend, who have already been mathematically relegated.
I don’t always love player props and tend to stick more to game lines, however, Strand Larsen’s current consistency is hard to ignore and they’re playing the perfect opponent to score a couple of goals.
Pick #2: 2-Leg SGP: Fulham Moneyline and Southampton Under 1.5 Goals -130 (April 26, 2025; 10:00 a.m. EST):
At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I’m once again fading Southampton and expecting a low goal-output.
Southampton concede the most goals and score the fewest, averaging .7 goals per match. This season, they’ve only managed to score 2+ goals 4 times in the EPL and only 7 times in all competitions, with the other 3 matches being played against clubs in the 2nd tier.
Fulham have slipped in form as of late and now find themselves in 9th, out of the European positions. They’re only a point outside of 8th, which may be good enough for a UEFA Conference League spot, depending on the results of the FA Cup and Newcastle’s finishing position in the EPL, as the winners of the EFL Cup.
Essentially, Fulham have something big to fight for, even if it’s not a guarantee. The race for 8th could be a big one, with 4 or 5 clubs potentially battling for a final European place.
Pick #3: Bournemouth Moneyline -145 (April 27, 2025; 9:00 a.m. EST):
Similarly to Fulham, Bournemouth are currently in 8th place, which could end up as a Conference League spot, which would be a great way to cap the solid season Bournemouth have had.
Bournemouth are coming off a disappointing 0-0 draw away at Crystal Palace, as Palace played half the game with only 10 men due to a red card late in the first half. They have a tough remaining schedule, so they’ll need to pick up as many points as they can.
Their opponents this week, Manchester United, have a Europa League semifinal coming up on Thursday, a match that will be their primary focus. Like Spurs, United have been terrible in the EPL and are placing all their hope into winning the Europa League.
United’s manager, Ruben Amorim, stated recently that they’ll be “playing kids” in the Premier League, focusing instead on the Europa League. They’ve only won 3 of their last 10 EPL matches and don’t have any further motivation in the EPL, unlike Bournemouth.
Across the Globe:
Lyon Moneyline -135 (France; Ligue 1)
Coritiba Moneyline +100 (Brazil; Serie B)
Club Sport Herediano Moneyline +100 (Costa Rica; Primera Division)
Come Moneyline -115 (Italy; Serie A)
Inter Milan Moneyline -130 (Italy; Serie A)
Season Record:
Best Bets: 44-54
Across the Globe: 83-77
