The draft is the foundation to a good fantasy team, but a championship team is active on the waiver wire to capitalize on shifting opportunity shares and emerging talent. Each week, I’ll give you a breakdown of my favorite adds in fantasy football. The order I list the players doesn't matter as I believe the players you select off this list should be based off position of need and other team unique factors. Regardless, these are always hot players of the week worth boosting your team. This week we are at the point in the season when the wire is starting to dry. 8 team leagues still have potential but 10 and 12 team leagues and above are honestly struggling. This list as always will try to help you get an advantage in any way possible while trying to account for these factors.
Odell Beckham, WR, Miami Dolphins
I wish it was 2014 but it's not. I'm not mincing words or sugar coating here, I picked up Beckham in my 12 team redraft because I caught that Mingo was a healthy scratch in time. Tyreek is a true game time decision and I honestly expect him to be active. However, if you find yourself in a position similar to mine with an inactive player or healthy scratch try Beckham. He could also give you 0.00 but at least with an active player there's a chance for something, anything at all. Miami has a WR1 and RB1 in Achane thank God, I have him in my dynasty league but maybe just maybe Beckham can give me at least 3 points. A true desperation play but a play nonetheless.
Audric Estime, RB, Denver Broncos
I'm bipolar about Estime this season. A great dynasty play but I'm not as confident in redraft. All things considered though at this point with a bare wire any shot is worth exploring as we make those final pushes into the playoffs or playing spoiler for those who will be there. Surprisingly, the coach speak about getting him more involved did come to fruition but it was only responsible for a modest 5 points in half ppr. I'll take it though and hopefully we can get more in these final weeks of the grind. 5 points isn't optimal but against a stout Chiefs defense all we can do is hold and hope for more to come in better matchups.
Gus Edwards, RB, Los Angeles Chargers
Dobbins is still the RB to have but it's encouraging to see Edwards lead the team in rushing for 55 yards coming off his IR stint. A great Dobbins handcuff but enough standalone value in case of emergency situations such as bye or injury replacement. The Chargers like a run heavy approach and more opportunities could await Edwards and Dobbins both. Best case would be a two headed monster approach to keep both men healthy down the stretch without cannibalizing value too much. Another great dart throw that should be available even in deep leagues due to rage drops.
Mack Hollins, WR, Buffalo Bills
Coleman, Cooper, and now Kincaid are all banged up and Hollins managed to capitalize on the increased target share. He posted 11.35 in half ppr off 86 yards of offense from catching all 4 of his targets. If any of those men above or even just 1 remains sidelined this could be a continuing trend for Hollins. He's available in my 12 team league and I anticipate many others also. Another great add that could at least provide a safe floor with possible upside to drive you home to the ship.
Honorable Mentions: Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Jonnu Smith, Demarcus Robinson, John Metchie.
