The draft is the foundation to a good fantasy team, but a championship team is active on the waiver wire to capitalize on shifting opportunity shares and emerging talent. Each week, I’ll give you a breakdown of my favorite adds in fantasy football. The order I list the players doesn't matter as I believe the players you select off this list should be based off position of need and other team unique factors. Regardless, these are always hot players of the week worth boosting your team. This week we are at the point in the season when the wire is starting to dry. 8 team leagues still have potential but 10 and 12 team leagues and above are honestly struggling. This list as always will try to help you get an advantage in any way possible while trying to account for these factors.
Taysom Hill, Everything, New Orleans Saints
Hill is always capable of games like the Browns situation where he puts up 42 points. He is a utility player that can do it all for the Saints and played a season high of 55% of snaps. He looks to be recovered from being banged up earlier in the season and can be put in a TE or QB spot easily on Sleeper as he has dual designation. This is especially valuable in super flex leagues. He passes the ball, receives the ball, runs the ball, he does it all. A great ceiling play for big wins and bigger balls.
Jonnu Smith, TE, Miami Dolphins
Smith has a role on this team even with Hill and Waddle active. Long term I still would much rather have Hill or Waddle but for now Smith has a role. He was left wide open for a tuddy against the Raiders and is looked to pretty often by Tua. He's a great flex play and injury filler rest of season. He did play a season high 81% of snaps but I think he's more likely to put up floor games of 8 points than to replicate this performance. Either way, Jonnu is a valuable piece of a Dolphins offense looking a lot better as of late with Tua back.
Tommy DeVito, QB, New York Giants
Finally Jones is benched and Tommy Cutlets is back. If you need a QB you could do a lot worse. Personally I don't think DeVito is the answer either, but the Giants can't move on until the draft. At the draft I expect them to take Shedeur Sanders if he's available and try to rebuild. In the meantime, DeVito has weapons at his disposal and walks into a much better situation than he did last year when Jones was injured and he stepped in. He managed two, 20 plus point games last year as a starter and the rest of his performances were forgettable. He became a folk hero for Giants fans during that time though and had his own Linsanity moment with the rest of the football world. Add DeVito if you need a QB in deep leagues and fugidaboutit.
Honorable Mentions: Tyquan Thornton, Marvin Mims.
