The draft is the foundation to a good fantasy team, but a championship team is active on the waiver wire to capitalize on shifting opportunity shares and emerging talent. Each week, I’ll give you a breakdown of my favorite adds in fantasy football. All players listed have to be rostered in under 50% of leagues to qualify for this list. All roster percentages from NFL Fantasy.
C.J. Stroud, QB, Houston Texans, 35.4% owned
Our time of clowning on C.J. Stroud is going to end as quickly as it came it seems. Stroud is 4th in the league in passing yards, 3rd in passing attempts, 3rd in yards per attempt, and he has yet to throw an interception. He will be a spot play moving forward in traditional leagues and a start-able option in 2QB/superflex leagues.
Michael Wilson, WR, Arizona Cardinals, 0.2% owned
It appears that Wilson has passed Moore on the depth chart and he is running with the opportunity. He tied with Brown for a team leading 7 receptions against a tough 49ers defense. Wilsons 6’2” frame makes him a redzone machine. Wilson caught both of Doubs passing touchdowns and is a stream-able option as long as this team keeps humming at this level.
Romeo Doubs, WR, Green Bay Packers, 24.2% owned
Doubs was right here last week and put up 18.5 points in Week 4. He has seen a slight climb in ownership percentage but the Doubs disrespect has to stop. With Watson back in the lineup, Doubs still saw 13 targets and came down with 9 of them. Doubs is tied with Hunter Henry scoring the most TDs on go routes in the league. He is averaging more points than Devonta Smith and CeeDee Lamb.
Jake Ferguson, TE, Dallas Cowboys, 9.7% owned
Ferguson has seen 7 targets in 3 of 4 games this year, good enough for 7th most among TE’s. Quietly, he is the #9 TE in scoring this season yet nobody wants him. Ferguson led the Cowboys in targets, receptions, and yards in last week's blowout of the Patriots. Dak loves his TE’s, I’m going all in.
Weekly Waiver Trap!
Jaleel McLaughlin, RB, Denver Broncos, 0.3% owned
You don’t want many offensive pieces in Denver and if you’re even thinking about picking up McLaughlin, give your head a shake. Homeboy had seen 7 touches through three games and averaged 4 yards a carry. Williams missed some time opening the door for a little work for McLaughlin who averaged 10.3 YPC! Unless the NFL changes the schedule and the Broncos play the Bears every week until the end of the season, this is a RB I'm avoiding like the plague.
