The draft is the foundation to a good fantasy team, but a championship team is active on the waiver wire to capitalize on shifting opportunity shares and emerging talent. Each week, I’ll give you a breakdown of my favorite adds in fantasy football. All players listed have to be rostered in under 50% of leagues to qualify for this list. All roster percentages from NFL Fantasy.
Trey McBride, TE, Arizona Cardinals, 20% owned
Ertz entered IR and McBride entered into the fantasy relevance chat. His first game as the starter he saw 14 targets, catching 10 of them for 95 yds and a TD. He did this with Dobbs at QB and against a good Ravens defense. With Murray returning soon, I see McBrides stock continuing to rise. McBride was the first TE selected in the 2022 draft and is a 2nd round pick. McBride has the talent to thrive.
Zach Charbonnet, RB, Seattle Seahawks, 42% owned
While he has lacked usage, Zach has been elite when on the field. He rushed for 53 yards on 5 rushes against the vaunted Cleveland defense. Zach won’t have elite usage while Walker is around but Walker has already shown he is a little banged up. Zach has incredibly high upside and should be rostered as he is better than most options out there.
Emari Demercado, RB, Arizona Cardinals, 36% owned
Yuck, my second Cardinal in a Fantasy Football article. I can’t help it. We have no idea when Conner is coming back meanwhile Demercado has rushed 33 times over the last two weeks. He hasn’t scored a TD so his lower points have him flyer under the radar. He has 18+ looks in the last two games which you can’t find anywhere else out there.
Rashid Shaheed, WR, New Orleans Saints, 36% owned
Shaheed has had WR 4, 6, and 11 overall weeks this season. Why is he a free agent? Well that’s because he’s finished as the WR53 or lower in all the others. He is the definition of Boom or Bust. He has cake walk matchups the next two weeks vs the Bears and Vikings which make him a valuable flex play while you deal with byes.
Weekly Waiver Trap!
Leonard Fournette, RB, Buffalo Bills, 4% owned
This was Murray last week. Funny how that works. Lenny is older and has been out of football for awhile now. He is going to take some time to learn the playbook and to get into game shape. Murray will still mix in rendering both useless for fantasy and not worthy of a roster spot. This was a signing for the Playoffs for the Bills with no immediate impact expected from the team.
