Fantasy Stock Market: Week 3

The waiver wire is a blast every week but nothing feels the same as pulling off a trade! Finding the right compensation can be tough and coming to an agreement is even harder. While we would all love to trade for Justin Jefferson, these articles are based around players that with the right compensation, are attainable. Each week throughout the season, I'll give you three buy and sell candidates. Last week if you followed my advice and bought Achane and D.K. Metcalf you have to be feeling pretty good so far. Though Dalton Kincaid increased his points in half ppr from two something to seven something the jury is still out on that purchase at this time. Likewise, if you sold high on Xavier Worthy and Allen Lazard I hope you received some great players you get more value out of and if you did sell Jordan Mason let me know what king's ransom was attained. So far so good.

BUY

Tyreek Hill, WR or Jaylen Waddle, WR

If anyone in your leagues is freaking out over the latest Tua concussion then it's time to take full advantage. Tua for better or worse probably won't retire. Concussions are just the name of the game in American football and for Tua to retire would require a massive societal pushback and realization by the NFL that they exploit players and only care about profit above safety and all else. Not happening. Tyreek can produce no matter who throws the ball and so can Waddle but be aware Waddle probably won't see many touchdowns as Waddle has never received a touchdown from backup Skylar Thompson in eight games. He will see use but when Tua is back in four games is when Waddle will return his value. The Miami offense will struggle but this is the cheapest high quality players will be probably all year. Look to sell Zach Charbonnet, Stefon Diggs, Rashid Shaheed, players like that in packages based off team needs to try and secure a deal.

Kenneth Walker, RB

Though he is currently sidelined with an oblique injury now is the time to buy K-9 if you need help at RB. The injury isn't supposed to be lingering and last time this occurred led to only a two game absence for Kenny. He scored 18.90 in half ppr in week 1 with an impressive clip of 5.15 ypc. Especially in a dynasty format, this is the cheapest Walker will likely be for some time. Seattle has a new offensive coordinator in Ryan Grubb and he and other Seahawks staff have shown a willingness to run the ball. The aerial attack will still be prevalent but both the passing game and run game benefit from each other and especially Kenny when he is on the field. He is still far and away the best back on the team and the only one I want. Offer Calvin Ridley, David Montgomery, Aaron Jones, Hunter Henry, Mike Gesicki, Joe Mixon, Rashid Shaheed, Quentin Johnston, some variation of players similar to the listed above in various packages and try to see where negotiations go.

Garrett Wilson, WR

The volume is there, the snap participation is there, the trust is there, the only thing missing is the touchdowns and those will come. Especially in dynasty formats any long term holders of Wilson may be feeling squirrely. Take advantage of frustration and lack of touchdowns to acquire a young and hyper talented wide receiver on a good offense. I'm no GW fan and I definitely am not a fan of Aaron Rodgers but the two have chemistry and GW is a focal point of the offense. Subpar and downright terrible QB play over his first two years has led to a WR 19 finish and 31 finish in half ppr. Remember when Rodgers went down last year everyone was excited to see what a good QB could do with Wilson and we are only two games into a season where we finally get to see what could transpire. Look at your team and the GW owner's team and figure out who you are willing to part with to get this guy before the door slams shut and TDs roll in. I've thrown a lot of names out and will now offer some sell candidates to further help.

Sell

Alvin Kamara, RB

Shut up and listen incel, a woman of color is speaking right now. If you're in redraft feel free to hold on but in dynasty you will not get a better sell window than now for Kamara. His efficiency metrics from attempts to yards, to ypc to touchdowns etc. have all declined significantly for three straight years now. He's 29 years old and has a lot of wear and tear from seven years of heavy use in the NFL. How quickly we forget his unresolved contract situation with one of the most financially mismanaged teams in the NFL. Constantly sitting on dead cap and spending like a Wall Street fat cat who never sees the recession coming. The next crop of running back talent has been in the league for about two years now and next year will be even more jarring for grizzled vets. Winter is coming. His monster 46 point game is heavily based off four touchdowns which is not sustainable every game. As long as you're selling for a fortune get off this ship while you can unless you want him to retire on your roster. Try to get an elite tight end like Brock Bowers, Trey McBride, get a quarterback like Jalen Hurts, Kyler Murray, Lamar, Mahomes, etc. Try a receiver like Marvin Harrison Jr, D.K. Metcalf, CD Lamb, Devonta Smith, etc. Possibilities are endless. Draft picks always an option, the buy guys listed above, just make it hurt your partner.

Quentin Johnston, WR

This is more redraft than dynasty but you can make anything work if you like what's on the table or in the cupboard. Johnston did nothing all last year and this year finally did something in week two scoring 19.60 points in half ppr. Again my concern is the two touchdowns that hold this up. Anytime a guy like this has done nothing for a year and now shows up buoyed by touchdowns I'm skeptical. Breakouts can and do happen in years two or three for receivers in the NFL and we have examples but if I can sell this guy for anyone I've mentioned throughout this article as buy candidates or players I'd rather have I'm doing it. If you're not moved by any of my buy candidates thus far or the names I've thrown out as targets above then figure out who you'd rather have than QJ or maybe picks you're after and get it done.

Braelon Allen, RB

Allen was a popular waiver wire add this week and one I recommended. Here's a secret of my game, sometimes my waiver wire adds are for good trade bait. This is the case of Braelon Allen. He poses no threat to Breece Hall in any way in my eyes but had a nice two TD game last week that had people in a tizzy. Unless you're a Breece owner who likes playing with handcuffs then sell this guy. He's just a handcuff but like Jaleel Mclaughlin, Tank Bigsby, etc. people think his double digit game is going to be a regular occurrence and he's taking Breece's job. Not happening. Maybe find the Breece owner in your league and test the waters to see the level of concern and what they are willing to offer. I like giving suggested players but I'm also of the mentality you never know who's available and what the price is if you don't ask. You can be surprised. Injuries are mounting league wide and RBs can be scarce. Maybe you have a league mate holding out hope he has stand alone value? Get it done.
