Michigan vs Purdue (5 Units Deployed)

College Basketball is back in full force tonight with a great slate! This article is only focused on the Michigan/Purdue game, but if you want more plays and previews, make sure to check out our Youtube Page, as well as our twitter page (WorstBets and EBainbridge26).

Lets get into the action! Fair warning, I am a Michigan fan.

Game Preview:

Michigan (7-11, 2-5 in Big Ten, and 2-2 on the road) is traveling to the Powerhouse of #2 Purdue (17-2, 6-2 in Big Ten, and 9-0 at home).

Purdue is a 17.5-point favorite and the total is set at 152.5.

Michigan:
Emma Mati/Daily

Michigan is not good, and finally Vegas is coming around to understanding that. The Wolverines have been getting way too much credit from the books, and all of these trap lines were forming in Michigan games. Because of how I bet, I had to take the ugly side and bet Michigan. Unfortunately, this has lost me a lot of money since Michigan is 6-12 against the spread.

Another important thing to note, is that Dug McDaniel, Michigan's leading scorer, is serving a suspension that makes him unavailable for away games. 6th year senior, Jaelin Llewellyn takes over as the starting point guard on road games. Llewellyn has a lot of experience, but is not at all himself after suffering an ACL injury last year. Because of this, Michigan is even shittier on the road.

Purdue:

Purdue is one of the most complete teams in the country. With Edey returning for his senior year and the experience they have at their guards, this is a very scary team, and they are on a revenge tour after suffering an embarrassing loss to 16 seeded FDU in the first round of March Madness last year.

Edey is the clear favorite to win the Wooden Award, which he won last year as well. At 7'4, he is an unstoppable object, and if you double team him good luck. He probably will score even with the double team, or will just kick it to one of the guards to shoot a three (Purdue ranks 11th in the country in 3pt %).

Purdue's 2 losses came on the road to Northwestern in overtime, and to Nebraska in a surprising blowout. This team has still yet to be beaten at home, and that will probably stay true for the entire season.

Bets:

I am a jynx for this Michigan team, and now refuse to bet their spread. When I bet for them, they don't cover. When I bet against them, they win outright. Can't get this team right, so I will not take the spread, but Purdue -17.5 is free!

BET: o152.5

Reason:

Michigan has one of the worst defenses I've ever seen. They are clueless out there, and don't know basic basketball fundamentals. This is not great when you're playing one of the best offenses in the country (2nd overall).

Purdue will have no problem scoring, and wouldn't be shocked if they get up in the 90's, maybe even 100+. Michigan will do just enough on offense to hopefully make this a sweat free bet.

BET: Purdue TT o85.5

Reason:

This reasoning is the same as the total. Purdue can't be stopped by a terrible Michigan defense. Their season average in PPG is 85.1, and they score a lot more at home. This is a hedge on the total, in case Michigan completely shits the bed.

BET: Michigan TT o67.5

Reason:

Make sure to line shop on this. I am seeing some books that have 66.5 out there. Michigan's defense may be bad, but offensively they're not terrible, scoring 79.3 PPG. I think Purdue is going to run up this score, making this a fast paced game. Michigan excels in those type of games, so hoping Purdue puts all their emphasis on scoring 100 points tonight, and takes a rest on the defensive side of the ball.
