MLB Player Props 8/5

Brent Rooker admiring a baseball he just hit

I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend making as much money as possible in the betting world. Friday was a nice bounce-back from Wednesday's 0-3 fiasco. Cole Ragans didn't have his A+ stuff and was the lone negative out of the three props. However, we will always take a 2-1 day. The goal is to always be in the positive.

There are not a lot of games on tonight, but there are still some gems I found. Let's start the week with some props that are dying to turn green. Here are the best three props for today.

Brent Rooker Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-120)

Betting the Oakland A's in any capacity is a dangerous game to play. However, the circumstances are a little bit different today. The A's have been known as the worst organization in MLB over the past several years, but they aren't the worst team this season.

The Chicago White Sox are awful and might be the worst team in MLB history. They are in the midst of a 20-game losing streak. Yes, you read that correctly, 20 games!!!! They can't buy a win right now, but maybe tonight is the night. Despite that notion, I want to fade the White Sox in some fashion.

I originally wanted to fade their pitcher Jonathan Cannon, who is sporting a 5.76 ERA on the road, but it looks like the books are scared to put any lines for him. That led me to look through the A's lineup and I had to go with their lone bright spot in Brent Rooker.

Most of the public expected Rooker to be moved at the deadline, but he is still with the team and he is going off. In July alone, Rooker batted .391 with 11 home runs and 30 RBIs. For the entire season thus far, Rooker is in the top 10 in home runs, RBIs, and OPS.

Rooker is a right-handed batter, but he crushes right-handed pitchers. Rooker has 19 home runs and 60 RBIs against righties, which Cannon is. Rooker is a great hitter and would be for any team. He gets to take advantage of a pitching staff that is trying to find ways to lose games at this point. I have faith in Rooker tonight and might even go yard (+380).

Kyle Hendricks Over 4.5 Hits Allowed (-165)

Kyle Hendricks has been a mainstay for the Chicago Cubs for a decade now and was an integral piece to their World Series team. However, his time as a starting pitcher is looking like it might be over. Hendricks is posting a 6.86 ERA, 1.48 WHIP, and OBA of .296.

Tonight he faces the Minnesota Twins, who have been one of the better-hitting teams in MLB all season long. They rank in the top 10 in AVG, OPS, and wOBA. The Twins look to continue that trend against Hendricks who had a slight improvement in July but only posted a 5.25 ERA compared to the 6.86 ERA on the entire season.

This is a simple fade of a struggling pitcher facing a good-hitting ballclub. The Twins should be able to knock him around a little bit. Expect Kyle Hendricks to lose even more steam down the stretch, as he becomes a great pitcher to fade on any given start.

Bobby Witt Jr. Over 2.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-130)

This player prop has probably been the most used by me over the past month. However, we are 1-1 when I have announced it in these articles, so let's see who wins the tiebreaker. Bobby Witt Jr. just finished one of the best months we have seen from a hitter. The man batted .489 for an entire month. For the entire season, Witt is batting .344 with a .980 OPS. The man is a cyborg.

Tonight he has a matchup I can't pass. He faces a lefty on the mound; as he is averaging .351 against left-handed pitchers. He is also at home where he becomes the greatest hitter of all time. For the entire season at home thus far, Witt is batting .405 with an OPS of 1.174. Those numbers are not even possible in MLB The Show.

The numbers indicate that this prop is a must-play once again. I know I have used this play a few times now, but Witt is on a whole other level right now. I love this play and I expect him to do damage and help the slip turn green.

MLB Record: 44-33
