NBA Best Bets 2/10

Michael Porter Jr. pointing

The NFL season is officially over, which means the NBA is at the forefront of the sports world. The NBA landscape has changed over the past couple of weeks. The Los Angeles Lakers have Luka Doncic. , and the Golden State Warriors have Jimmy Butler. A lot is going on around the league and the All-Star break hasn't even arrived.

Now with no NFL on for the next several months, it is time to make money with the NBA. However, I do not want to stick with player props only. I want to mix the props with game lines and expand our horizons. So without further ado, welcome to the NBA best bets.

Michael Porter Jr. Over 18.5 Points (+100)

The Denver Nuggets are hot right now, as they have won six straight games and are 7-3 in their last 10. Nikola Jokic is the obvious catalyst for this squad, but Michael Porter Jr. is solidifying his spot as the second-best player on this team. MPJ has scored 30+ in three straight games and is averaging 30 PPG in February thus far.

For years, we have seen MPJ battle inconsistencies on both ends of the court. However, this season he is finally putting it all together and elevating a Nuggets team that people wrote off at the beginning of the season. Their offense is one of the best in basketball and MPJ plays a big part in that.

Tonight they face off with another hot team in the Portland Trail Blazers, who are 8-2 in their last 10. The Blazers have had the 3rd-best defense in the NBA over the past 15 games, only allowing 107.5 PPG. However, the Nuggets are at home and that is where MPJ thrives. He is averaging 20.5 PPG while shooting 45% from three at home this season. I think this is a great spot for MPJ to remain hot and go over a point total we might not see if he continues on this trajectory.

San Antonio Spurs vs Washington Wizards Over 236.5 (-112)

Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs travel to the nation's capital to face the 9-43 Washington Wizards. The Spurs are still trying to find their groove after acquiring De'Aaron Fox from the Sacramento Kings at the trade deadline. The Wizards are in full tank mode after shipping away several veteran players, including Kyle Kuzma. Both of these teams are young for the most part and ready to score in bunches.

The Wizards allow the most PPG in the NBA, while the Spurs are the 12th-worst. Wemby should feast on the small frontcourt of the Wizards, who allow the most offensive rebounds and 2nd chance points. They also allow the most points to centers, so expect a huge game for the French phenom.

You would think the Spurs defense is lockdown with Wemby as the anchor, but they don't have the wings to guard, and that gives Jordan Poole that opportunity to go off. I can see this game going over, despite the high total. The line started at 234.5 and continues to go up. Grab this line before it balloons even more.

Charlotte Hornets vs Brooklyn Nets Under 212.5 (-110)

I know a lot of people will not be watching the Charlotte Hornets vs the Brooklyn Nets, but I couldn't resist taking this line. Both of these teams are under magnets. The Hornets are 19-30-1 on O/U while going under in 7 of their last 10 games. The Nets are 23-29 on O/U while going under in 8 of their last 10 games. These two teams have played twice before going 1-1 for the under, but their last game was January 29th and that total finished at 187 points.

These two teams do not push the pace at all. The Nets have the slowest pace in the league, while the Hornets have the 8th-slowest. Their defenses are solid, but they just try to grind games, which tend to cause low totals. Furthermore, the Hornets might be missing the one player on their roster who is not afraid to push the pace in LaMelo Ball. If he ends up being out for the game, the line can get even lower.

NBA Record: 28-22
