Monday night did not see us pull off another sweep, but we did go 2-1 for a positive showing. Anthony Davis and Nikola Jokic breezed past the 25+ points we bet on them, but Chris Paul couldn't secure 8 assists. Paul faced some early foul trouble and was out of the rotation for a solid chunk of the second half. The writing was on the wall early for that one and we have now been burned by two assists prop bets. There might have to be some tweaking that needs to be done moving forward if I want to pick an assists prop.
The NBA has 11 games on the slate today. There are a plethora of options, but we must find the best three. Here are the three best props to get you in the green.
Gradey Dick Over 14.5 Points (-120)
The Toronto Raptors are clearly in the tanking business this season and should have every incentive to play their young guys. One of those young pieces is their lottery pick from last season, Gradey Dick. This season, Dick is getting more opportunities to showcase why the Raptors chose him with the 13th pick.
Through four games thus far, Dick has surpassed this over three times while averaging 16 PPG. His shooting does need to improve, as he is only shooting 35% from three, but there is still plenty of time. That might begin tonight against the Charlotte Hornets, as the Raptors are facing some injuries.
Scottie Barnes and Immanuel Quickley are both out tonight, while RJ Barrett just returned from a shoulder injury. With no Barnes and Quickley, and Barrett may need to still ramp his way up to his normal set of minutes, Dick has a prime spot to be the focal point of the offense.
The line is fairly low due to his lack of visibility last season. However, this is a new year and he has gotten off to a solid start. This might be a sneaky prop to take us to the counter.
Tobias Harris Under 24.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists (-115)
Tobias Harris makes his return to Philadelphia to face off against the Sixers after spending the last 5 seasons there to much of the fans' dismay. Harris was given a large contract during his time in Philly and was a disappointment with each passing season. Now he is with the Detroit Pistons, but things are not good to start the season.
Harris is averaging 10 PPG on 34% shooting. He has not gone over this PRA total in each of the four games he has played, despite almost playing 35 minutes a game. The Pistons brought Harris in to guide the younger players and provide a much-needed offensive punch without the expectations he faced in Philly. However, he can't seem to lock in ever since he received that contract extension.
Some might think Harris comes alive in a revenge game, but that narrative might not be successful with how poorly he has played. We faded this same line last Friday and we hit it with ease. I want to run it back and fade Harris until he proves me wrong. Take the under and pray Harris does not put it together for a night.
Donovan Mitchell 25+ Points (-130)
LeBron James comes home to Cleveland to take on the Cavaliers. The narratives all point towards taking LeBron in some aspect. However, I want to roll with Donovan Mitchell tonight. The Cavs are 4-0 and look like they have a chance to be a surprising contender in the Eastern Conference.
Mitchell has only played more than 30 minutes once so far this season due to the Cavs rolling through most of the teams they have played. Tonight they play the Lakers, who have shown a great improvement with JJ Redick at the helm. With this game potentially being close, Mitchell should see an uptick in minutes and get more chances to light up the Lakers.
In his last two games, Mitchell has reached this mark after not doing so in the first two games. The Lakers are allowing opponents to shoot 47% from the field, which is the 8th-worst mark in the NBA. They are also allowing shooting guards to score the 5th most PPG. This is a great spot for Mitchell to have a huge scoring outburst tonight.
