The moment every NBA gambler has waited for, the return of my NBA player props articles. In the last article that was published, we went 3-0. The Christmas season is here, so it is time to make some money to recoup all the presents you bought.
The NBA Cup is over, which means we are back to regular slates and tonight we get a huge one. Without further ado, let's back to the grind.
Cade Cunningham 40+ Points + Rebounds + Assists (-165)
Don't look now, but the Detroit Pistons are in the playoff race in the Eastern Conference with an 11-16 record. Last season, the Pistons only mustered up 14 wins for the entire season. The East is a dumpster fire, but the Pistons don't care and want to make the playoffs for the first time since 2019.
The leader of this freshen-up version of the Pistons is their former number-one overall pick, Cade Cunningham. His first three seasons have been a rollercoaster ride. We saw him have an amazing rookie campaign but was followed up with an injury-riddled season and a 14-win year that felt like it was getting worse by the day.
This season, Cunningham has looked rejuvenated and has a case for an All-Star nod. He is the clear-cut best player on this squad and has been showcasing that status throughout the season thus far.
Tonight, he faces the Utah Jazz, who are in full-fledge tanking mode. The Jazz are awful and Cunningham is ready to exploit all of their flaws tonight. The Jazz are in the bottom 10 in the league in PPG and APG allowed by point guards. Cunningham is an all-around player that can put together a triple-double on any given night.
Cunningham has hit this line in 7 of his last 10 games and I don't see why he can't eclipse this line once again against a lowly Jazz squad.
De'Aaron Fox 25+ Points (-140)
De'Aaron Fox and the Sacramento Kings are in a grey area right now. They want to fight for the playoffs and continue on their positive trajectory over the past couple of seasons. However, the Western Conference is stacked and the Kings are stuck in the mud. They simply might be a mediocre team in the West, which hurts because, in the Eastern Conference, they can be a top-6 team.
Fox is still having a good season despite the lack of winning. He is averaging 26-5-6 on 48% shooting. The Los Angeles Lakers and the Kings reignite their feud tonight. The Lakers are also in that grey area within the West and have struggled at times to guard quick guards, such as Fox.
Fox earlier this season dropped 28 points on the Lakers and they have not improved on the front since. Trae Young recently had a 30-20 game on the Lakers. It is pretty much their biggest weakness on defense and Fox fits that problem. Fox has struggled this month, as he has only hit this line once, which was his last game. I think the Lakers' shaky defense allows Fox to keep up the momentum.
Jalen Johnson Over 9.5 Rebounds (-120)
Jalen Johnson has improved every season since he entered the league. This might not be his final form, but man has he been excellent this year. Johnson is averaging an astounding 10 RPG, which is not something we expected when he entered the league. However, he has positioned himself as a cornerstone for the Atlanta Hawks and their future.
Tonight, his Hawks play the San Antonio Spurs, who are in the bottom 10 in their last 10 games in rebounds allowed per game. Johnson has eclipsed this over in four straight games. The Hawks are down a big man in Onyeka Okongwu. Outside of Clint Capela, the Hawks' next-best rebounder is Johnson.
This line is cemented at 9.5 for Johnson for the remainder of the season with his averages being where they are. However, he continuously proves that he can surpass the over. I think Johnson will gobble up double-digit rebounds once again to make it five straight games.
NBA Record: 25-16
