NBA Player Props 12/23

Isaiah Hartenstein holding the basketball

After the hiatus, we returned to our winning ways with a 2-1 record on our prop bets. We were one Jalen Johnson rebound away from sweeping the board. Unfortunately, he couldn't snag the last rebound. However, we will take the 2-1 positive record and bring momentum into the new week.

Tonight is a loaded slate with several intriguing matchups on the bump. Let's start the Christmas week off with a win to put in the stocking.

Trae Young Under 22.5 Points (-115)

Trae Young is having an odd season this year. He is leading the league in assists once again, but his scoring is down. He is averaging 21.6 PPG on a career-worst 39% shooting. Even with the struggles shooting, the Atlanta Hawks were impressive and made it deep into the NBA Cup. However, they have lost three straight games and have to play a pissed-off Minnesota Timberwolves squad.

The Wolves have been up-and-down all season, but their defense is legit. They have the 4th best defense but are 1st over the last 10 games. They also allow the 3rd least PPG to point guards this season.

Trae is leaning into the distributor role more than ever and is willing to play second fiddle in the scoring department. That along with the shooting woes, Trae has hit this under in 7 of his last 10 games. He has the talent to get this over on any given night, but I think the matchup speaks to a potential rough night for the All-Star point guard.

Isaiah Hartenstein Over 11.5 Rebounds (-115)

The OKC Thunder are the best team in the Western Conference and they get to take on the worst team in the entire NBA, the Washington Wizards. The only obstacle for this prop is the Thunder blowing out the Wizards so much that Isaiah Hartenstein does not play a lot of minutes. However, I still believe in Hartenstein grabbing 12+ rebounds tonight.

Hartenstein is averaging almost 13 RPG and has eclipsed this over in 8 of his last 10 games. OKC was a little thin in the frontcourt when Chet Holmgren went down with an injury, but Hartenstein has been a monster on the glass, which they desperately needed.

The Wizards are an awful basketball team as they allow the most RPG to opponents. They are clearly tanking and do not function as a real NBA team at the moment. Hartenstein should abuse this weak Wizards frontcourt. The only thing getting in his way tonight will be if the Thunder come out firing on all cylinders early and he doesn't need to play more than 22 minutes.

Cade Cunningham Over 38.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists (-120)

Last time we had to go with 40+ for Cade Cunningham's points + rebounds + assists. This time the line dropped to 38.5 and I am still loving the over. Cunningham has hit this over in 9 of his last 10 games. Furthermore, he is averaging 40.5 PRA this season. It is a little suspicious for this line to fall at 38.5.

Cunningham and the Detroit Pistons play the Los Angeles Lakers tonight, who tend to struggle against ball-dominant point guards. Cunningham fits that description and has already given a good performance against this same Lakers team.

He put up a triple-double with 17 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists. The Pistons are playing solid basketball in the weaker Eastern Conference. There are true playoff aspirations for this young squad. Cunningham is the leader and is proving that he is up for the task. The line is oddly low and it makes me want to strike on the sportsbooks' potential mistake.

NBA Record: 27-17
