Premier League Soccer Best Bets #12 (April 24-25, 2024):

Welcome to Premier League Soccer Best Bets, where we break down the latest action in the English Premier League (EPL) and my favorite bets for the upcoming matches, providing quality content in a way that is accessible to new and old fans alike.

Recap:

We’re partway through matchweek 34 of 38 in the EPL, with 7 matches kicking off over the weekend and an additional 6 midweek between Tuesday and Thursday.

Over the weekend, both Arsenal and Liverpool won their respective matches on the road to keep the title race alive. Manchester City played in the FA Cup (beating Chelsea) so they didn’t play at the weekend. In the relegation battle, Burnley had a decisive win on the road over Sheffield United, and with Nottingham Forest losing in a game full of controversial refereeing, Burnley sit only 3 points from safety.

We had another strong weekend of betting, getting another 3-0 sweep of the main plays, each with longer than even odds. We also cashed our bonus bet of Olise to score or assist. Around the Grounds was sub-par, going 2-5, cashing both MLS plays with Toronto and Minnesota.

Upcoming Matches:

Yesterday brought us a 5-0 stomping of Chelsea at the hands of Arsenal. Now we will see if Liverpool and Man City can get wins on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively.

Let’s get to some bets for the remaining matches:

Pick #1: Dominic Solanke to Score or Assist +100 (April 24, 2024; 2:45 p.m. EST):

I don’t always love player props in soccer, but I can see this match going either way, so I’m looking to dabble with a player prop rather than with a moneyline play.

Here, I’m backing Dominic Solanke to score or assist. Solanke has been by far the prolific goalscorer for Bournemouth this season with 18 goals. He only has 3 assists, which is why his anytime goalscorer odds are sitting slightly above the to score or assist market at +115. However, I’ll take the even money play for the chance of an assist, as I feel Bournemouth may struggle to find the breakthrough at Wolves and may require an assist from Solanke.

Solanke has scored in 5 of his last 10 matches and Wolves are struggling, failing to win in their last 6 EPL matches.

Pick #2: Crystal Palace to Win Either Half -110 (April 24, 2024; 3:00 p.m. EST):

Ever since Oliver Glasner took over as Crystal Palace head coach, I’ve been backing them to have a bit of a rise. They finally are seeming to hit their stride with their attackers back from injury and clicking as a unit. They had a huge win at Liverpool two weeks ago, then followed it up with a 5-2 smashing of West Ham. We predicted them to win that match, but the attacking play was superb.

Newcastle have been streaky but, to be fair, are coming off a big win against Spurs as well. Other than the match two weeks ago against Fulham, however, they’ve been poor on the road. I can see Newcastle ultimately getting a win or draw from this game depending on how it plays out, but with the strong attacking play of Crystal Palace and the poor road form of Newcastle, I’m backing CP to at least win one of the halves.

Pick #3: 2-Leg Parlay: Liverpool Moneyline and Manchester City Moneyline -100 (April 24, 2024; 3:00 p.m. EST and April 25, 2024; 3:00 p.m. EST):

This bet is based solely on the idea that these two massive clubs will keep the pressure on the title race. The games for these clubs now are must-win and they are too good to settle for anything else at this stage in the season.

I like Liverpool to beat Everton in the Merseyside Derby, as they’ll be extra motivated to beat their cross-town rivals while also keeping the pressure on the title race.

Man City are set to be without star striker Erling Haaland, but other top players like Phil Foden and John Stones are fit to play so, as far as I am concerned, no Haaland no problem.

Around the Grounds:

-       Atl. Paranaense +110 Moneyline (South America; Copa Sudamericana)

-       River Plate +130 Moneyline (South America; Copa Libertadores)

-       Anderlecht Moneyline -110 (Belgium; Pro League)
