FITTING THE NFL MOLD

Ideally, a RBs height will be between 5'9" and 6'1" and he will weigh somewhere between 200 and 230 lbs. Judkins is much larger than people think he is as he has the size to be an every down back at the next level. The two greatest predictors of NFL success for RBs in the combine are the 40 Yard Dash and the Broad Jump. These test a players speed as well as their lower body explosiveness. He had a slower 40 time but tied for 2nd in the 10-yard split while getting first in the broad jump. He is in the 94th percentile in Burst Score grading him as extraordinary when it comes to acceleration.

COLLEGE PRODUCTION

Judkins saw a welcomed drop in touches with his transfer to Ohio State from Ole Miss. This reduced his load by nearly 80 touches while still giving him enough playing time to get ready for the next level. NFL teams raise red flags when a player has 700 or more carries in college or 300+ carries in a season. Judkins had 739 carries which puts him on the higher end of usage but isn't worth being concerned about. His YPC (4.9) is a bit worrisome. That puts him below Zamir White (5.4 YPC) who has struggled with making the transition to the NFL.

WATCHING THE TAPE

Judkins strength is evident when you watch the film. He has a solid base and is hard to knock off balance. He can also stiff arm DBs like Derrick Henry, using his size to bully the secondary. He has some of the best hands among the RBs in this draft. Ohio State felt more than comfortable to pitch him the ball rather than handing it off to him making him a solid option for teams with a dual threat QB. My main question when watching Judkins is his consistency. At times he is a beast and can't be taken down, and other times he'll go down with little resistance. He mainly uses his acceleration to get to the edge on outside runs and uses his athleticism to make plays that others can't.

THE LANDING SPOT

The Browns quickly found their replacement to Nick Chubb taking the uber talented back out of Ohio State. This is a great spot for Judkins as the Browns have a decent line and love to pound the rock. He will start the season behind Jerome Ford but if he can find success early, the Browns will be happy to bump him up the roster and return Ford to backup duties. Judkins should see plenty of rushing and receiving work making him fantasy relevant out of the gate. The Browns also drafted Dylan Sampson from Tenn in the 4th round but that doesn't concern me. They spent a premium pick on Judkins and that's the guy they want totting the ball.

WHERE TO DRAFT HIM

In Redraft leagues, Judkins should be drafted as a low-end RB2/high-end Flex RB in the middle rounds. In Dynasty rookie drafts, Judkins should be drafted within the first 8 picks.
