Champions League Best Bets #16: Semi-Finals Leg 1 (April 28, 2026 - April 29, 2026):
Welcome in to Champions League Best Bets, brought to you by Bettor In Green, where we recap the latest Champions League action and look ahead with my favorite bets for the upcoming matches.
Recap:
The UCL Quarter-Finals deliver as always, with some exciting matches, upsets, and big moments.
Despite winning the match, Barcelona could not overcome the 2-goal deficit to advance over Atlético Madrid.
While Liverpool played much better at home, PSG still had the firepower necessary to win 0-2 at Anfield, advancing 4-0 on aggregate. Liverpool thought they had a lifeline into the match with a penalty shout, but VAR intervened and confirmed no penalty.
Arsenal maintained their 1-goal advantage, following a 0-0 draw at the Emirates, eliminating Sporting.
Finally, Bayern Munich advanced over Real Madrid with a 4-3 win, though Real Madrid had drawn level on aggregate on 3 separate occasions, with Bayern ultimately getting 2 late goals to seal the win.
We went 2-1 for Best Bets, winning with Barcelona and on our Kvaratskhelia player prop. We almost had a clean sweep, but Real Madrid only managed 12 shots when we needed 13. They likely would have been able to get another shot if it weren’t for the 86’ red card for Camavinga.
Upcoming Matches:
And then there were 4!
The Semi-Finals are often some of the best football in the entire competition, as we get to see incredible team go head-to-head over the course of 2 legs.
First up is PSG and Bayern Munich, star-studded clash between the champions of Germany and the likely champions of France.
PSG, as last year’s UCL Champions, will be looking to retain the title. Bayern Munich, on the other hand, are seeking a treble, after winning the Bundesliga, while striker Harry Kane looks to bolster his Ballon d’Or chances as the year’s best player.
On Wednesday, we have Atlético Madrid hosting Arsenal.
Atlético Madrid recently lost the Copa del Rey, and are out of the La Liga title race. The UCL is their last chance to secure any silverware this season.
Arsenal are out of both domestic cups in England, and recently saw their Premier League title challenge slip with a loss to Manchester City. They’ll be desperate to win the EPL, UCL, or both, earning something from the strong season they’ve had.
Simply put, this is must-watch football. You can watch every match of the UCL here in the US over on Paramount+, along with a special watch-along with David Beckham for the 2nd leg matches.
Let’s get to the bets:
Best Bets:
Pick #1: PSG vs Bayern Munich BTTS in 2nd Half +130 (April 28, 2026; 3:00 p.m. EST):
First, I’m looking at a market I perhaps have never bet before, the Both Teams to Score in the 2nd half market.
Looking at stats, both of these clubs have scored in the 2nd half in all but 2 UCL matches this season, including the League Phase. In fact, both clubs have scored in the 2nd half of each of their knockout matches.
These clubs faced one another in the League Phase, each scoring, though Bayern got both of their goals in the first half.
PSG have kept clean sheets in their last 3 UCL matches, but now they face a tougher attacking squad in Bayern Munich, who scored the most goals in the League Phase.
Bayern Munich have had both teams score in all but 2 UCL matches this season. They have been somewhat leaky at the back, but have more often than not had enough firepower to get goals and win matches.
Here, I expect a bit of a shootout between these two high-flying offensive clubs. The creativity and star-power of both clubs on the attacking side of things will lead to a mouth-watering matchup.
With both clubs potentially feeling the other out for the start of the match, I expect the goal to really start after about 20-30 minutes, with goals coming from both sides in the 2nd half.
Pick #2: Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (PSG) to Score or Assist -110 (April 28, 2026; 3:00 p.m. EST):
For my next Best Bet, I’m backing the se player prop as last week, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to score or assist.
As we discussed last time, Kvaratskhelia has been on fire in the Champions League this season. He’s played in 13 of PSG’s 14 UCL matches and has a goal contribution in 10 of those 13.
He nabbed an assist in the 2nd leg against Liverpool, continuing to show his prowess in this competition.
Since then, he’s played in 2 of PSG’s 3 Ligue 1 matches, scoring against Lyon and then getting a brace (2 goals) against Nantes.
PSG just rested him this weekend, so he should be firing on all cylinders against Bayern Munich.
As discussed with our first Best Bet, Bayern have been somewhat shaky at the back, allowing the opposition to score in all but 2 of their UCL matches this season.
While this is likely to be PSG’s toughest test this season, both clubs will be seeking an edge in this firs leg, and PSG will have the benefit of being at home for this match.
Pick #3: 2-Leg SGP: Atlético Madrid Under 1.5 Goals and Arsenal Under 1.5 Goals +110 (April 29, 2026; 3:00 p.m. EST):
Finally, I’m looking to the Atlético Madrid v Arsenal match, taking a bit of a unique SGP, backing each side to score under 1.5 goals.
The reason I am backing this bet is because I think that will ultimately fit into the game plan of Mikel Arteta and Arsenal. If they can hold Atlético Madrid to a low-scoring match, taking an even scoreline or 1-goal advantage back to the Emirates, I think they’ll feel confident about their ability to get the job done at home.
Arsenal have been in poor form as of late, compared to how strongly they started the season. They are 2-1-4 in all competitions over their last 7 matches.
Further, they’ve not scored over 1.5 goals in any of those 7 matches.
Admittedly, Atlético Madrid has been scoring goals pretty readily, as of late. However, when these clubs faced off in the League Phase, Arsenal won 4-0, though that was at Arsenal.
In their recent UCL matches against Barcelona, Atléti scored 2 in the first leg, though both came after a red card for Barça. They then only managed 1 goal at home in the 2nd leg, though they were arguably playing a more defensive match, trying to hold their aggregate lead.
With Arsenal’s more pragmatic approach and likelihood of seeking to hold Atléti at bay until they get back to the Emirates, I expect a low-scoring affair from both sides.
Season Record:
League Phase: 12-12
Playoff Round: 1-5
Round of 16: 3-3
Quarter-Finals: 4-2
