Rookie Review: Jordyn Tyson’s Fantasy Outlook
FITTING THE NFL MOLD
Tyson has the frame of a WR 1 that can play outside on the edge and highpoint the ball against engaged DBs. He was productive in college being a two time third-team AP All-American as a standout receiver for ASU. The biggest concern of Tyson will be, Can he stay healthy? He tore his ACL, PCL, and MCL in 2022, broke his collarbone in 2024, and missed 4 games with a hamstring injury. The greatest ability is availability and this concern is valid..
WATCHING THE TAPE
It makes sense that Tyson went to ASU because that man is a DEMON on the field. His ability to make acrobatic catches is unmatched and he makes them look routine. Seriously, look up this guy's highlights, it’s absurd how nasty his hands are. He has superb body control and is able to get to the ball to make plays. This is a pro and con as he will sacrifice his body to make the play which is part of the reason for his injury history. He doesn’t have blazing speed but is a great route runner and elusive for a guy of his size.
THE LANDING SPOT
Jordyn Tyson lands in a quietly strong situation with the New Orleans Saints, mainly because the path to immediate opportunity is wide open. With Chris Olave locked in as the WR1, Tyson projects to step right into a WR2 role without much real competition behind him. His physical, contested-catch skillset complements Olave’s elite separation ability, giving the Saints a balanced duo and putting Tyson in position to see meaningful targets early—especially in the red zone. From a development standpoint, this is an ideal setup: he gets volume right away while also learning from one of the league’s best route technicians.
The hesitation comes down to rookie QB Tyler Shough, and that concern is fair. If Shough struggles, it could cap Tyson’s ceiling in terms of big plays and touchdowns. On top of that, Tyson does carry some injury concerns coming into the league, which adds another layer of volatility to his early outlook. Still, volume tends to outweigh QB concerns for rookie receivers, and Tyson should command a strong target share simply because the Saints need him to. So while the quarterback situation and durability questions may limit his immediate upside, the role and opportunity make this a solid landing spot overall—with the potential to look even better long-term if Shough proves competent.
WHERE TO DRAFT HIM
In dynasty leagues, Tyson should be drafted somewhere between the 1.02 and the 1.05. In redraft leagues, he should be drafted in the WR 40-55 range putting him in the 7th to 9th round range.
